Komen Charlotte Race for the Cure® works with Tivoli Partners to Increase Participation October 2, 2004
Charlotte, NC – September 29, 2004: This year’s theme for Charlotte’s Race for the Cure® is, “It’s a Family Thing!” Because, it’s not just about the people living with breast cancer. Beyond families, there are many others who know and love someone with breast cancer. When you consider that one in seven women are affected in their lifetime, that’s a lot of people.
Building participation through activities like Race for the Cure® is exactly what the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation hopes to do. “It is important that people feel they are not alone and that they can help the cause,” said Tivoli’s Race for the Cure® account executive, Erin Jenkins.
Since Tivoli Partners is a direct marketing agency that uses innovative ways to reach out to customers, they are well suited to the task. Tivoli created an animated email that emphasizes the positive feeling you get from strength in numbers. “The email is very catchy and moving. It sends the message that Komen’s Race for the Cure® is something that you want to be involved in,” says Jenkins. ”People find it so inspiring they forward it on to others. The email takes on a life of its own, allowing us to reach far more people.”
This email (that can be viewed at www.Tivolipartners.com/RFTC) and the development of many other outreach materials have been instrumental in getting others to sign up for the Race. Since Tivoli Partners’ involvement in 1999, Komen Charlotte has increased its participant base from 7,400 to 12,500. Donations have increased from $522,000 to an estimated $1,000,000 this year.
It is the Foundation’s goal to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by advancing research, education, screening and treatment. As a diamond sponsor for the past five years, Tivoli Partners is working to help them get there.
Tivoli Partners is a direct response agency specializing in customer retention. Current clients include: Family Dollar, The City Business Journals Network, Robinson, Bradshaw & Hinson and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.
